Org-paid plans
Publish a plan catalog and let clients subscribe and pay you directly through Stripe.
An org-paid plan is the first of the two ways to bill a client: the client subscribes to a tier you publish and pays you directly through Stripe. The money moves from your client to your own connected Stripe account, so this has nothing to do with what Modero charges your agency (see Your Modero subscription).
Org-paid plans require a completed Stripe Connect setup. See Connecting your Stripe account first.
The Plan Catalog#
You publish a catalog of subscription tiers from Billing > Plan Catalog. Clients subscribe to a tier, and their payment runs through Stripe on your connected account.
The tiers and the prices are entirely your agency’s own choice. Modero does not set them, suggest them, or take a share of them.
What a catalog usually looks like#
Agencies tend to publish a ladder rather than a single price. Vigilis, for example, publishes a catalog shaped like this:
- An entry tier that is self-serve, with a trial, so a small client can start without a conversation.
- Several middle tiers stepping up in capability, each carrying a setup fee.
- A custom Enterprise tier at the top, negotiated case by case.
Each tier is offered monthly or annual. Annual works out to two months free, and setup fees are waived on annual plans. That combination is what makes annual worth offering: the client saves, and you get the year committed up front.
For the actual figures in any catalog, look at the catalog itself. Yours are whatever you set from Billing > Plan Catalog, and Vigilis’s are visible in the Vigilis instance.
Letting a client bill themselves#
You can let an individual client self-serve their own billing: start a trial and add their own card without you doing anything.
- It is a per-client opt-in that you control.
- It is off by default.
- It never applies to a complimentary client.
Re-tier recommendations#
As a client’s spend grows, Modero tracks their trailing spend and flags a re-tier recommendation when they have outgrown their current tier.
This is deliberate. Silent price increases are the fastest way to damage a client relationship, so Modero surfaces the signal and leaves the decision, and the conversation, with you.
Common questions#
A client’s spend has grown past their tier. Do they get automatically upgraded and billed more? No. You will see a re-tier recommendation, but nothing changes until you explicitly apply it.
Can a client be on both a catalog plan and a partner-paid service tier? No. Subscribing a client to a catalog plan automatically clears any partner-paid tier assignment, and the reverse is also true. It is always one or the other. See Partner-paid service tiers.
