What the billing states mean
Grace, suspended, locked, and archived, and what you can still do in each.
Your account is showing grace, suspended, locked, or archived, and you want to know what you have lost and what you have not.
The states#
When a payment fails, your account moves through a sequence designed to give you time to fix it before anything is lost.
| State | What it means | What you can still do |
|---|---|---|
| Grace | Payment failed. The first roughly 10 days after the failure. | Everything. Reads and writes both work, nothing is blocked yet. |
| Suspended | Payment still has not gone through. | Reads. Your team can view data but not create or edit records. |
| Locked | Continued non-payment. The account locks further. | Modero does not document what remains available here. Update your card to restore the account. |
| Archived | The end state, after an extended period locked. | Modero does not document what remains available here. Contact Modero: see How to get help. |
The point worth holding onto: reads keep working through both grace and suspended. Losing write access is disruptive, but your data is visible the whole way through those two states.
How to resolve any of them#
Update your card at Partner Hub > Subscription. From there you can open the Stripe billing portal to update the card on file and view your invoice history.
Updating your card and letting the next invoice succeed brings the account straight back to active. That is the fix for every state in the table.
Does this affect your clients?#
No. Your agency’s own billing status is separate from whether your clients can use their organizations. That said, an extended lockout can eventually limit what your team can do on their behalf, so it is best not to let it linger.
Common questions#
Q: Our account shows “past due” or “grace”. What do we do? Update your card at Partner Hub > Subscription. As long as you fix it within the grace window, nothing about your service is interrupted.
Q: We got locked out of making changes. Can we still see our data? Yes. Read access stays available through the suspended state. Only writes are blocked until payment is resolved.
Q: Our agency was comped by Modero. Does any of this apply? No. If your agency has a complimentary account, none of this cascade applies, because you are never billed.
