Per-client billing overrides

Comp a client, extend a trial, set a negotiated price, or issue a one-off invoice.

Not every client fits the catalog. Overrides let you adjust an individual client’s billing without changing the tiers you publish to everyone else. They all live on that client’s Billing & Entitlements screen, reachable from the client’s record under Organizations.

These overrides affect what the client pays you. They have no effect on what Modero charges your agency (see Your Modero subscription).

What you can override#

OverrideWhat it does
CompMakes the client free. All billing and metering skip them entirely.
Trial extensionPushes out the client’s trial end date.
Custom base priceOverrides their catalog rate with a negotiated price.
One-off manual invoiceIssues a single ad-hoc invoice outside their normal subscription.

Comping a client#

A comped client is not billed a discounted amount; they are skipped. All billing and metering pass over them entirely, which is why a comped client is also never affected by the per-client self-serve billing opt-in described in Org-paid plans.

Clients brought on through the Invite Client flow start out complimentary for the same reason: Stripe never sees them, so there is no billing friction while you get them set up. See Inviting clients.

Zero-value invoices as a paper trail#

A one-off manual invoice can be issued for zero value. That sounds pointless until you need it: a comped or manually onboarded client otherwise has no billing document at all, and a zero-value invoice gives you a record of the arrangement in the same place as every other invoice.

Use it whenever you want the paper trail to exist even though no money changes hands.

Everything is recorded#

That history is what makes overrides safe to hand to more than one person on your team. If a client’s price is not what you expected, the answer to “who set this, and when” is already recorded. Your agency’s wider activity history lives in the audit feed.
